Protocol for closure due to inclement weather

It had been many years since Ryerson had cancelled a church service due to weather...until the winter of 2008 when we cancelled services twice!
We hope that this winter will be kinder to us, but felt that it would be helpful to have a protocol for cancellation to keep confusion to a minimum and safety of our Ryerson family, top priority. Therefore, the Worship Committee presents…

RYERSON’S INCLEMENT WEATHER CANCELLATION PROTOCOL
*Cancellation will decided upon by the Minister, Worship Chair and Clerk of Session either the evening before or as early as possible on Sunday morning .
*Staff and those participating in the service will be called immediately upon the decision to cancel.
*A message will be put on the church phone indicating cancellation so that those wondering, may call into the church to listen to the message. (Janice is able to do this from her home.)
*We will attempt to put messages on CKOC, K-LITE FM, and CHML.
*An e-mail indicating cancellation will be sent to those with e-mail.
*Those without e-mail should call the church number to see if the service is cancelled.
Again...we hope we don’t have to use these measures, but if we do, we’re ready.
If you have any questions or concerns about this cancellation protocol, please contact Ellen Francis, David Dawson or Rev. Margaret .

Bids 'n Bites

On November 15, Ryerson came together, once more for a wonderful evening of fun, food, fellowship and fund-raising!
$14,000.00 was raised and given to the U.C.W. to support world-wide and community missions as well as Ryerson’s general fund.
The Live and Silent Auction items were top-quality thanks to the generosity of so many.
The Auction Team, under the leadership of Roxanne Cosby and the Dinner Team lead by Carolyn Frosina and Barbara Skinner all need to be congratulated!
Our new Auctioneer, Joseph Zidanic from Century Estate Services was a big hit too!
Bids ‘n’ Bites continues to epitomize Ryerson working together!
Thank you all!

100th anniversary

1908-2008 Let’s Celebrate! That was the theme of the year and that’s what we did on November 1st and 2nd!
Ryerson family from the near and distant past came to the Scottish Rite to enjoy dinner, dancing and a trip down memory lane through a sound and sight presentation.
Fellowship at the Scottish Rite is an old Ryerson tradition with former Choirs, Couples’ Clubs and Tower Clubs partying there over the years!
The Anniversary Service on Sunday morning with Rev. Hugh Reid preaching and David Leman on keyboard, gave Ryerson the best kick-off ever, for her next 100 years!
The weekend was terrific and gave us a good opportunity to “Count our Blessings!”

Anniversary Appeal

November is Anniversary Appeal month at Ryerson. Just a reminder that you can place your contribution on the offering plate today or any Sunday in November. Our goal this year is $18,500.00. Thank you.

Ryerson’s 100th Anniversary Celebration

The 100th Anniversary Committee would like to thank all who came to the dinner and dance at the Scottish Rite last Saturday. Over 180 people spent the evening reconnecting, reminiscing and sharing memories about Ryerson.
We were thrilled that so many came out on Sunday morning to celebrate Ryerson’s 100th Anniversary Worship Service.
We very much appreciated Rev. Hugh and David Leman sharing this service with us.
